Mazhit Yesenbayev was born in 1949. He graduated from the V. I. Lenin Kazakh Polytechnic Institute with a major in economics. He is a Candidate of Economics and a Docent.
Mazhit Yesenbayev began his professional activity serving as an economist at the research institute of standards planning under the Kazakh USSR State Planning Committee.
Since 1999 he served as the Minister of Finance of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Since 2002 Mazhit Yesenbayev served as the Minister of Economy and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Afterwards, he was appointed the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Since 2003 he served as the Kazakhstan President’s Assistant. From 2004 to 2008 he served as the Akim of the Akmolinskaya oblast.
Since 2008 to present Mazhit Yesenbayev is the Chairman of the Agency of the Republic of Kazakhstan for Competition Protection (Antimonopoly Agency). |
