Michael Wood is the Assistant Chief of the Cleveland Field Office of the Antitrust Division, Department of Justice. There he investigates and prosecutes bid rigging, price fixing, market allocation, and related corporate activities. Most recently, Mr. Wood is leading the Division's investigation and prosecution of an international cartel in the compressors industry, where he is working with representatives from several other countries. Previously, Mr. Wood led the Division's E-Rate task force in prosecuting a series of frauds conducted by a group of consultants and vendors on the FCC's E-Rate program, a federal program that provides funding to economically disadvantated school districts and libraries to connect to and utilize the Internet. Mr. Wood has been with the Division for over twenty years, during which time he has investigated and prosecuted collusion in a variety of domestic and international industries, including automobile equipment, magazine distribution, milk, concrete pipe, electrical contracting, and rubber thread. Before joining the Division, Mr. Wood investigated and prosecuted oil companies while a member of the Department of Energy's Office of Special Counsel.
Mr. Wood got his law degree from Catholic University's Columbus School of Law and his undergraduate degree from the University of California, Santa Barbara. |
