Cesar Mattos (44) was sworn in as commissioner of the Council for Economic Defence – CADE - on November 12th, 2008. Among other professional experiences, he was Senior Policy Specialist of the Office of Legislative Counsel at the Brazilian Lower House (Chamber of Deputies), Deputy-Secretary of Foreign Affairs of the Finance Ministry, Economic Consultant before the law office of Baker & Mckenzie in Brasília, Economic Advisor of the President of CADE, Dr. Gesner Oliveira. Mr. Mattos received his PhD degree in economics from the Universidade de Brasília (UNB) by 2001. He wrote most of his PhD thesis as a visiting student in the Department of Economics of the Oxford University – UK. Cesar Mattos also got a Master degree in economics from the Pontifícia Universidade Católica do Rio de Janeiro (PUC-RJ) in 1991. Cesar Mattos has published several articles in academic journals and organized two books called “The Antitrust Revolution” I and II, containing articles from several Brazilian economists in antitrust cases. He has also a teaching experience, mainly at the Universidade de Brasília (UNB) and the Universidade Católica de Brasília and having supervised five dissertations for the achievement of a MSc and MPhil in Economics (all in UNB). |
