Yevgeny Voevodin is a Partner and Head of Competition team of CMS, Russia. Yevgeny Voevodin specialises in Russian corporate matters with particular focus on anti-monopoly law issues: merger control, competition related issues including competition impact assessment, market survey, agreements (concerted actions) restricting competition and other regulatory matters.
CMS Cameron McKenna’s Competiton team in Moscow led by Mr Voevodin has been advising some of the biggest names in the market on significant competition issues and on complex specialist anti-trust issues, in addition to handling a large number of difficult merger clearances in Russia and other C.I.S. countries. Mr Voevodin's clients include major FMCG, telecom, energycompanies, etc.
Yevgeny Voevodin’s recent experience includes advising an Irish investor on merger clearance issues in connection with more than 10 acquisitions of commercial immovable property in Russia; advising a major IT company on merger clearance issues in connection with its merger with another company; advising a major metals company on antimonopoly investigation in connection with unfair competition; merger advice on acquisitions in Russia; advising a major energy company on competition matters arising from its business in Europe etc.
Yevgeny is recognised as one of the top antimonopoly lawyers in Russia. He is ranked 1 in Competition/Antitrust in Russia by Chambers Europe 2007/2008.
Yevgeny Voevodin is a Chairman of the Board of the Non-commercial partnership "Competition Support Association". The partnership was created in 2007 with the goal of enhancing dialogue between businesses and Russian antitrust authority – Federal Antimonopoly Service. Yevgeny is also the head of Antimonopoly committee of Association of European Businesses in Russia.
He is the author or numerous publications on competition/antitrust law. Some of the most recent ones include “Great Expectations”, International Financial Law Review (2006), “New Law Expected” Global Competition Review (2006), “Sharks of Monopolism” Vedomosti, Russian Business Daily (2006), “Supervision over Public Procurement in Russia” Global Competition Review, Global Briefings (2006), etc. Global Competition Review has appointed him its freelance reporter in Russia in 2005.
Yevgeny is co-operating actively with the Federal Antimonopoly Service of the Russian Federation (FAS) in law making activities. He was appointed by FAS to assist with the drafting of new competition regulations following the enactment of new competition law in Russia (November 2006) and to prepare the report of proceedings of the International Competition Network Conference in Moscow in May 2007. He also advised FAS on its approach to interpretation of the new Russian competition law.
