Antonio H. P. Silveira is BA in economics (1987) and Ph.D. in economics (2000), both at Federal University of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Since 1990 he teaches macroeconomics, monetary theory and public sector economics at Federal University of Bahia; his academic papers are on applied macroeconomics and industrial relations. He was two times (1998/2000 and 2002/2004) vice-Chairman of Brazilian Economic Association (ANPEC). Recruited by the Ministry of Planning in august of 2004 he worked as an economic advisor and deputy-Chief Economist until May, 2007. Then he moved to the Secretariat of Economic Monitoring at the Ministry of Finance, where he was first Deputy-Secretary, until August 2008, and after that became Secretary.
